The Restaurant
has a stylish understated elegance and the
bar in the best traditions of British pubs
is warm and friendly.
These two in
themselves made the Pipe and Glass Inn worth
a visit, but the best is yet to come.
Chef and Proprietor James
Mackenzie previously head chef of the
Michelin acclaimed Star Inn, Harome,
North Yorkshire, has already built up a good
reputation in this newly refurbished country
inn, tucked away in a beautiful and
delightful village set in the heart of the
East Riding of Yorkshire Wolds.
The
food that James produces is undoubtedly of
an exceptionally high standard and not only
are traditional British dishes available but
the chef uses local in season products.
On the menu this autumn
you can choose from marinated Lowna dairy
goats cheese salad with boiled beetroot and
juniper dressing served with watercress
salad. Another delicious and original
starter that James has produced this season
is hare, ham hock and fois gras terrine
which is served with damson and pear
chutney.
Two
desserts to try are lemon possett served
with raspberries or ginger crème brulee
served with stewed Yorkshire rhubarb.
But don't be fooled
into thinking
that this is simply a restaurant, traditional bar food is also
available.
You would not feel cheated if you opted for any of the
sandwiches or for the ploughman's.
The way that James
and his staff produce this simple food
proves that good quality food expertly
prepared will not disappoint.
