Sand Lane Farm Shop & Plant Nursery

About us

Gordon spent all his working life as a grower and studied Horticulture to HND level.  He built our nursery eighteen years ago to grow cucumbers, Due to high fuel costs and changing economic climate and a general awareness of environmental issues we decided to diversify.

We then decided to grow strawberries under glass and as we wanted to supply them fresh to the customer we opened for pick your own.

We grow our strawberries with our customers in mind - all at chest height!

The plants are all fed and watered via trickles to each plant and controlled by a computer so are not dependant on the weather.

Ensuring the produce is of a very high quality and is freshly picked, our range has grown over the past three years and is continuing to grow.

We love meeting our customers face to face and we now have an ever growing customer base of people seeking fresh local produce.

About our nursery

We grow almost all our produce under glass as this means we have total control on watering the plants and looking after their nutritional needs. The produce also benefits from protection from the elements.

We grow:

  • Strawberries

  • Raspberries

  • Blueberries

  • Cranberries

  • Jostaberries

  • Blackberries

  • Gooseberries

  • Loganberries

  • Tayberries

  • Rhubarb

  • Blackcurrants

  • Redcurrants

  • Asparagus

  • Cucumber

  • Tomatoes

  • Peppers

We also grow a small amount of the following to sustain our nursery farm shop.

  • Chilli peppers

  • Courgettes

  • Butternut squash

  • Pea's

  • Beans

  • Lettuce

  • Radish

  • Leeks

All available as they come into season. As the majority of our produce is grown under glass our crops are often earlier than normal growing season.
