Set in one of the prettiest villages in the
East Riding of Yorkshire, The Wellington Inn
at Lund never fails to deliver well cooked
food.
There is a small restaurant here, but if you
want atmosphere go for the rabbit warren of
rooms where bar meals are served and which
are lit by candles after dark. Don’t look
for menus on the tables. What’s on offer is
on blackboards dotted around the bars.
Remember to take the small Wellington boot supplied
on your table when you make your choice so that
staff can keep track of your order.
The food at the Wellington is varied and menus
change from week to week. Look out for from
beautifully cooked traditional Sunday roasts and
oriental salmon. Old fashioned dishes such as liver
and bacon are not only beautifully cooked but also
well presented and you won’t find a dry chicken
breast here. Portions are large but if you can
manage it the puddings are well worth it.
As with main courses there is a very large choice
with everything from light fruit meringues to bread
and butter pudding.
The beers on offer at the Wellington are also
excellent with Black sheep and local Wolds brewed
beers available. The wine menu has a good well
priced selection and wine by the glass is also good
quality.
